Wind Power company, Zoltek Companies (Nasdaq: ZOLT)

Zoltek manufactures and markets carbon fibers and develops applications for carbon fibers. The company also develops and manufactures specialty resins, acrylic fibers, nylon products and industrial materials. The company conducts its carbon fiber products operations with two plants in the U.S., one in Mexico, and its largest plant in Hungary. It sells its products worldwide.

The company sells its carbon fibers under the PANEX trade name and its oxidized acrylic fiber under the PYRON trade name. The carbon fiber products have many industrial uses and aerospace applications. Carbon fibers are also used in fire retardant materials. The company's PYRON oxidized acrylic fiber products are used in protective clothing, mattress and furniture applications. The company markets its protective clothing products for fireman's uniforms, factory protective clothing, and auto racing uniforms

Zoltek's carbon fiber products are also used in alternative energy applications for wind power and turbine blade reinforcement. The world's two largest manufactures of carbon-reinforced turbine blades, Gamesa and Vestas, as well as DeWind have long-term supply contracts with Zoltek.

The company is adding additional capacity in its Hungary plant which will be operational by 2nd quarter 2008. In October 2007 the company acquired a fiber manufacturing plant in Guadalajara,, Mexico and expects to have it in production by the end of fiscal 2008.

A controlling amount of stock is held by Zsolt Rumy who is the founder of the company.
